Fringe theories
unleashed upheaval
twitchy jerky
demagoguery
lye, chemically
interjecting,
Heavens-to-Betsy
personal vendettas
as more dreadful
than ever stage-directed
disappearing pandemic
deaths revealing,
“The president
won’t eat off of a plate
touched by a friend” ...

“ Quickly Concocted “

by Suzán Jiván Mom

Quickly concocted
not living up to its promise
called a cockamamie flop
affecting people at large
when the ball is dropped

in an Iditarod?” ...

sitting cheek-by-jowl

unveiling, “THE NASTY”
trampling mass casualties
radically re-branding
smash-mouth presidential actions
deemed, “Highly Embarrassing” ...

Sweeping ashore
surging water
grave warnings
mandatory
early-morning
evacuation orders
as an enormous
eye wall makes landfall
spouting “LAW AND ORDER”
for four more years
while Category 4 Laura roars
as the steward of a destructive course
violently spinning with alternate histories ...

“Breaching Boundaries”

“ Breaching Boundaries “

Breaching
boundaries
swerving
swirling
Category 4’s
fleeing storms
making landfall
fewer people
greater protocols
prepared
in minute detail
changing
and re-changing plans
polished
by pandemic
production standards
claiming,
“ Things aren’t so bad—
well not that bad! ”
as botched realities blare
and red rockets glare”...

“Making It Plan As Day”

reluctance to make
eye contact, maybe ...
